Stepping inside, diners are greeted by an inviting, old-school ambiance characterized by numerous booths, spacious tables, and a lively counter seating area that puts you right in the heart of the kitchen’s bustling action. Though the interior décor leans towards the nostalgic with its warm, dimmed lighting and well-worn finishes, this creates a cozy refuge that perfectly complements the generous, comforting plates served up daily.

The menu is a testament to comfort food at its finest, featuring all the favorites that locals crave. Wake up your palate with the Pancake Combo, boasting fluffy, golden pancakes paired with savory eggs and crispy bacon, or savor the rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavors of the Meat Lovers Omelette, loaded with hearty cuts of sausage, bacon, and ham. For something a bit lighter yet equally satisfying, the Veggie Omelet offers a vibrant medley of fresh ingredients, while the French Dip promises tender slices of beef nestled in a perfectly toasted roll, served with a flavorful au jus for dipping.

If you're in the mood for indulgence, the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with Toast and Jam delivers a nostalgic, soul-satisfying experience, featuring crispy fried steak smothered in creamy gravy alongside classic sunny-side-up eggs. Crepe lovers will delight in the Strawberry Crepes Combo or opt for the Crepes with Fruit Platter, which balance delicate sweetness with fresh fruit vibrancy. Those seeking traditional breakfast favorites won't want to miss the Poached Eggs Benedict or the chili-spiced zest of the Chili Verde Burrito.

Dinner Bell Favorites hold their own with Grandma's Homemade Meatloaf, a dish that echoes home-cooked warmth and hearty satisfaction. Additionally, the café offers kid-friendly options like Lil' Bear's Cheesy Grilled Cheese, Junior Cheeseburgers, and Chicken Strips, ensuring everyone leaves the table happy.

Customers consistently praise McCoy's for its generous portions and reasonable prices, noting that the diner’s service is friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming vibe that feels like a home away from home. Roger McCort highlights the classic diner setup and the experience of sitting at the counter, watching the kitchen’s lively rhythm. Diners like Adam Rodriguez appreciate the friendly staff and the blend of well-prepared dishes, even if the pancakes left room for fluffier perfection. Meanwhile, steak aficionados such as Jeff Jacoby and Juliette Blackwood rave about the 12oz ribeye breakfast steak—tender, juicy, and cooked to precise medium-rare perfection—though both wished for a touch more seasoning to elevate the flavor profile.

Whether you’re popping in for a morning meal to kick-start your day or settling in for a comforting lunch, McCoy's Coffee Shop Selma offers a genuine, soul-warming experience. Its combination of traditional diner atmosphere, hearty homestyle dishes, and genuine customer care paints a picture of a place where the food tastes like fond memories and the service feels like a warm handshake. SHORT VERSION: Great diner experience. Large portions, reasonable prices, good service. LONG VERSION: This is an old school diner. Lots of tables, lots of booths, and a counter for those who want to sit alone near the action of the kitchen. The exterior is dated and faded and the inside is dark. The menus are well-handled but clean. Actually, that could describe the decor too. And (though I don't think there's any negatives in any of that, as it makes it feel more diner-ish to me) those are the only comments I have that won't sound like praises sung to the rafters! This place is amazing! No issues parking. Every spot seems to be reasonably near the door. I was greeted and seated immediately on entry at a table (per my request) that was laden with all the accessories you need for breakfast. Piles of jelly packets, creamers, sweeteners of various sorts, ketchup, syrup, hot sauces of several brands, all in careful containers so they don't block your eating space. My order was taken quickly and my ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and French toast arrived just as quickly. Side note: When the server asked if I wanted one slice of French toast or two, I should have asked how big they were before blurting out "two". The portions here are very American in their huge sizes! Thick slabs of bread soaked in a delicate egg batter, covered in a snowstorm of powdered sugar... with whipped butter on the side (probably unnecessary, but I slathered it on anyway). Once I put the syrup on, this was already too much food for most people. So good, though! The omelet was done right (harder to get than you might think; often diners make them still runny inside or cooked dry) and it was beautiful! There was cheese on the pile of cubed ham inside and a heavy layer of shredded cheddar over the top. And a mound of hash brown which were crisp on the outside and downright fluffy inside. Each item could gave been a meal on their own, but I ate them all and loved it all. The servers were outgoing and expressive (it sounded like a classic diner should sound) and the customer mix was about half and half locals and travelers - there are hotels nearby and a crossing of highways - but everyone seemed to be treated as a favorite customer. All that, after tax and tip, landed under $20! THE BOTTOM LINE: You should eat here. If you're within 40 minutes, you should make the trip to eat here. If you live nearby, stop buying groceries and just eat here. It's worth it.

Ordered the Mexicali omelet and house potatoes with pancakes. Great spot for breakfast helpful staff and friendly town. Omelet and potatoes were very good, pancakes were ok and could be more fluffy, overall I would definitely recommend others to try.

This was our 2nd time here. I'm always skeptical about "breakfast" steaks, but this one is good! I usually go for the sirloin, but it's only a 6oz cut, so I did the 12oz ribeye instead. Glad I did! It was tender and cooked medium rare, just liked I ask for. It could have used more seasoning, but that's just me. The potatoes w/onions, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, hashbrowns and even the coffee, were all on point. They have a full array of condiments, syrup and flavored creamers on the tables. The staff is super nice and on top of it. Now, this place is in Selma and we live in Clovis, but it is definitely worth the drive.

I had not been here in years and I am so glad I went. I took my grandmother out for breakfast and we were both pleased with the food and the service. The prices are very good as well.

We’ve visited a couple of times now, and this place continues to impress. I was initially skeptical about ordering a steak for breakfast, but the ribeye really won me over. I usually stick to sirloin, but the 12oz ribeye was a perfect choice! Tender, juicy, and cooked to a perfect medium-rare—just the way I like it. While I usually enjoy a bit more seasoning, the overall flavor was still great. The sides were excellent as well. The potatoes with onions were perfectly crispy, the biscuits and gravy were rich and flavorful, and the pancakes were light and fluffy. Hashbrowns and coffee were spot on too. They really put thought into every part of the meal, even down to the wide variety of condiments, syrups, and flavored creamers on the tables. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. It’s definitely worth the drive from Clovis to Selma. Great food, great service, and always a satisfying meal!
